  5. Click Resize signature and download.

What size do online forms expect?

Most Indian government, banking, and university online portals require signatures between 10 KB and 50 KB with dimensions around 140 × 60 px or 3.5 × 1.5 cm. UPSC and SSC are particularly strict — overshooting causes rejection. This tool targets your exact KB requirement using JPEG compression and downscaling as needed.

You'll often need to resize a photograph to match. Try our Aadhaar Photo Resizer or Passport Photo Maker to handle the photo upload alongside the signature.

Signature size requirements for Indian exams and forms

Different Indian exam authorities have specific signature file size requirements. This tool's preset KB targets cover the most common cases:

How to take a signature photo for online forms

Sign on a plain white sheet of A4 paper using a black gel pen or fine-tip black marker. Photograph the sheet under bright, even light from directly above (a desk lamp aimed at the paper works). Keep the paper flat — fold lines or wrinkles will show up as grey shadows. After uploading here, enable the "Clean signature" option to convert the captured photo into pure black-on-white using threshold processing.

Common signature rejection reasons

Indian online form portals typically reject signatures for: file size too large (over the upload limit), file size suspiciously small (under 1 KB suggests over-compression), wrong dimensions or aspect ratio, coloured ink (most forms require black ink only), background not pure white, signature placement not centred in the frame, file format not JPG (PNG sometimes rejected).

Privacy note

A signature is a piece of personal authentication. Uploading it to a random photo-resizing website means handing your signature image to whoever runs that site — they could store it and re-use it for fraud. This tool runs in your browser using the Canvas API. The image never leaves your device.

Disclaimer

Signature requirements vary by exam, form, and authority — and they can change between years. Always cross-check the latest specifications on the official notification PDF for your specific exam or form. The presets shown here are the most commonly accepted as of May 2026.

FAQ

What if my signature is too big?

The tool downscales automatically when needed. Above ~30 KB target, your original aspect ratio is preserved and only quality is adjusted.

Should I scan or photograph my signature?

Both work. A scanner gives cleaner results, but a phone photo with good lighting is fine — just make sure the signature contrasts strongly with the background.

Is my signature uploaded?

No. Everything is processed locally in your browser.
